Roaming access with Netscape

This is how you configure Netscape Communicator (doesn't work with Navigator, because that does not have Roaming support!) to put your bookmarks, cookies, history, mail filters and address book etc into the database that are in use at Bayour.com. The good thing about this is that you have access to your bookmarks, address book etc where ever you are in the world (work, home, school etc).
    1. Open up the preference window (from the menu Edit->Preferences)
    2. In the main Roaming Access entry, choose Enable Roaming Access for this profile. Enter your User Name you have been given. I recomend NOT to save the password, for security reasons!!!
    3. Then under Server Information you should choose LDAP Directory Server, and enter this for the Address, and User DN respective:
      1. ldap://ldap.bayour.com/nsLIProfileName=$USERID,ou=Roaming,dc=papadoc,dc=bayour,dc=com
      2. uid=$USERID,ou=People,dc=papadoc,dc=bayour,dc=com

      3. You can cut and past directly from this page...
    4. Under Item Selection you just choose the items you would like to store in the database. The recomended is to have atleast your bookmarks and your address book...

You can now try that Roaming works.

    1. Close all Netscape windows

    2. This is the third time you have done this, since you started to add Roaming support. You have been keeping score right? :)
    3. Remove the bookmark and address book files

    4. Files that end with .htm and .na2 in the directory where the user profiles are installed.
    5. Start netscape again. It should now request the bookmark from the server.

What should you do on a 'fresh' (ie, other computer) to get this to work?

Basicly nothing exept configure Roaming as described above. If you don't have a profile on that computer, just add one, and configure Roaming.
If you DO have a profile already, you might have to remove the addressbook from that profile, since they will conflict. Just move the bookmars out of the way, and then manually merge them togheter... It's a hastle, but not much you can do about that...

    Where are things installed?

On a Windows machine, the user profiles are usually in C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\<insert your profile name here>.

On a UNIX platform it's in your home directory (~/.netscape/).
